Hobie 20 bulkhead repair
Way back HCC paid a local to repair my hull and the hole (6"Dia.)that was cut on the outer side of the hull is opening up.
any suggestions? Should I contact the factory again ten years later or should I try to repair it myself? NOTE: the gelcoat is just as thin as the outer skin of the hull.
Thanks for responding Matt,
I'm a pretty good F'glasser myself and think I'll tackle this one. I've got one (or two) question for you. Would you suggest cutting a 2x4 hole near the deck on the inner side of the hull and reinforcing the inner skin of the original repair? I'm not sure if the inner skin is OK.
Or, do you think I should do some exploritory work on the outer skin of the original repair? i.e. use dremel to gentlly remove gelcoat.
I think scarfing of the outer skin is the key for the repair, what do you think about unidirectional carbonfiber running fore and aft. or should I use cloth & mat
Aloha, Dan
