Don't know how much wind we had earlier while we were sailing, but this is what happened after we broke down.

We had the boat "road ready" when it "filled in". I was on the tramp trying to hold the boat down, when it rolled the boat off the trailer hitch after the bronco ride.

For recruiting students into the sailing club, we usually bring a boat onto our brickyard, the huge gathering place on campus. This year we brought out my 17. We raised the mast and the main.... the skyscraper that it was parked behind was funneling winds in from behind the starboard stern. If we were sailing it, we would have been reaching. Since the brickyard was packed, and the boat was ona trailer, moving it into the wind wasn't feasible, so I cautiously decided to let members trapeze out on the wings. I soon realized the danger in this when the wind picked up and lifted the windward wheel of the trailer off the ground. After that I just said screw it, and hopped the curb to park it in the wind.

Makes me think twice about getting an aluminum trailer. I never considered the weight of my steel trailer helping to hold the load down in case of gusts or crosswinds while pulling it on the road.

excellent point, besides, a steel trailer can still be towed by a Yugo with little effort.
