[#19283]

See attached. Tramp is inexorably attached to the boat in such a way that I cannot remove it unless I cut the lacing.

(hint: new I20 Tramp system suffers from same problem as old one)

Mike Krantz graciously lended me the

tramp fixit tool

which is a piece of flat aluminum to bang the thing back in, which worked for all except the webbing (it used to be much worse than pictured, can't get the last little bit)

I would sell the nacra and purchase a properly built boat like a Blade. <img src=

Too all those who took this post seriously, take a chill pill and relax. Keep your snappy replies to yourselves. This post was intended as a sarcastic reply to my Friend Tad. We are always bashing eachother. So unless you are cool with boat bashing, please do not waste your time.

And yes the warning was longer than the actual reply. Seems like lately this forum is full of stuck up sailors who cannot take a simple joke.
😛

Robi,
I sail a Nacra and take great offense at this remark. When was the last time a Blade won in the Netherlands? Oops, sorry... wrong thread.

Rob V.

I hope I don't need a sarcasm disclaimer, too.

After installing trampoline, you can slide long flat batten into track. It will effectively jam bolt rope in the crack. At same time, after taking tension off, there is no problem to slide first batten, then trampoline out of track. At least that was my fix of the same problem on I17

Why are you trying to fix a tramp on a boat that never gets sailed?

warning: unlike Robi's post this is not a joke. <img src=

I did something similar on my I17, but instead of a batten I slid in thick flat seat-belt-like strap (harvested from a duffle bag strap) prior to applying tension to the tramp laces. The strap completely surrounded the bolt rope in the track.

This didn't happen while sitting in the storage lot.

As for solutions, everyone has given me plenty of suggestions as to how to keep this from happening again, but not how to get the thing back in the track! Its come down to the last little bit and I'm afraid of pounding on it anymore with the tramp fixit tool in fear that I'll damage the rails.

When the bolt rope pulled out of the track on my I17 I was never able to reseat it properly without completely pulling the bolt rope out of the track and refeeding it in from the end.

Well I fixed it. For how long, we'll see. This is the

new

style thats not supposed to pull out, evar.

I used Mike's tramp fixit tool with a BFH, some water, and soap and finally got the thing back in there. I mangled the rope so I'm expecting it to pull out again in the future. Guess I'm looking at a new tramp for next season. Grrrr.

(Hint: when pulling the dagger boards up, put your feet on the hull, not on the tramp - thats how this happened)

Obi Wan,

Some padawan that will remain nameless tied a sphincter-load of granny knots to secure the lacing after he had tightened it. It was impossible to untie these knots without destroying the lacing. Plus, trying to remove the tramp while that lug was jammed in the track would have taken a mastery of the force that even I do not possess.

BFH won the day.

Or get your sailmaker to make some new loops with bigger bolt rops on them.

These two solutions will work well :

And

Quote
I'm using the plastic rouns/square thingies that are used an mono's as battens guiders ...

Several years back I helped a friend do this to his Tiger and it worked perfectly for the additional three years that he owned the boat. He has sold it now so I don't see it anymore.

The stuff he used was : Ronstan PNP 102 (5/16) or PNP 103 (3/8) or PNP104 (1/2)

Here you have a picture of them.

http://www.ronstan.com.au/marine/product.asp?ProdNo=PNP102

The only difference between these lugs is the diameter of the slug that will fit inside the trampoline track. Measure your diameter on the you I-20 and chose the right one. These lugs have metal loops to which the trampoline lacing can be secured.

I don't expect these slugs to be expensive in anyway. They are only 50 mm long (2 inches) and weight 8 - 11 gram = 1/4 to 1/3 oz and go over the counter in Australia for about 1.30 AUD = 1 US$ per peice. You'll need about 20 of them. Shipping cost will normal postage as these things are so small and light.

This is propably the easiest and cheapest solution to your problem, Maugan20.

That is if you were not using the ignoring option of this forum and could actually see my posts. Ahh well, I just guess you just have to continue fiddling about with your troubled setup, unaware that a perfectly good, cheap and proven solution is available. <img src=

Wouter

I couldn't help it

Reading your posts is like gawking at a traffic accident or smelling spoiled milk.... no matter how much you try, you just can't help but indulge.

Here's the thing, this system was SUPPOSED to be the fix for this very same issue that came OEM from the factory. Its much better, but obviously not 100% solved.

There ain't no slugs that are gonna fit in that slot with the existing bolt rope.

The slugs [aka thingies- thanks wouter!] can be picked up at any marine store.Mine are full plastic, brandname:

made in china

I think a paid €1 [$1,30] or so for them per one.

thake the whole rope out, replage by slugs, run a new line, done--your out sailing [actualy it took me two hours to get the old rope out...]
