I-20s at Nationals
Wind's picking up - the fleet was supposed to do two races and come in for lunch, but it looks like they're keeping them out for another one. The front is fast approaching - wind's blowing around 12-15 with some considerable chop. Florida sailors are doing well - Lambert seems to have shaken off a couple of bad races yesterday, and Dave Ingram just posted a third. Mike Hill flipped downwind in the second race with a broken trap wire, but it looks like he's OK.
Results being tabulated for posting on the Tommy Bahama site.

In case you didn't see it before the link to the old Forum was cut, someone up there posted the following:
"Brandon Wallace in heavy Air is smoking the I-20 Fleet with TB in second place. Appx. 12 boats are over at the moment. Cox has been pushing Larsen in the F18 fleet, until he ptich in a heavy gust rounding C mark.
Cold Front hit the fleets several boats reporting broken mast
half the boats are over, Barry Moore jibes at the beach just has a hugh gust hit, rips rig off the boat. Mother nature at its worst."
Actually, Barry just lost a shroud, not the whole rig, and he's OK. Most of the fleet is on the beach, but a couple of smaller boats are unaccounted for at this time (1420 hrs CST). Power boats on the water are looking for them on the shoreline.
More soon - cross your fingers that everyone is OK.

I-20 results through race five are posted at www.TommyBsailing.com - the finish of the sixth race was pretty chaotic, so we're trying to sort it out. We'll probably have to wait until the committee posts something for that one.

Race 9 - Tommy B Gets Another 2nd! Leads the Event by 5 Points - The wind fell off for this one, with a steady 10 knots, but the seas were left over from earlier in the day, so it was a real issue shifting gears. Tommy got a great start, got hosed, and climbed back up to 6th by the first A mark. They ran down the leaders and were on Brian Lambert's sterns coming into C the last time. On the spinnaker takedown, Tommy shreaded the chute and had to limp to the finish line flogging the remains of it. They held on for second behind Lambert.
John Casey was third, Brandon Wallace was 4th, Barry Moore 5th and Kirk Newkirk was 6th (we think). As soon as we have more official word, we'll post all the scores.
This puts Tommy B in first going into the last day by 5 points. They don't have a lot of room to breath, but they are in great shape. Stay tuned for pictures, stories and more results at www.TommyBsailing.com.
From the Tommy Bahama web site:
12:20 PM - Tommy B Gets a Bullet To Extend Lead - The first race today (race 10) is now complete. Tommy B took the win and Wallace was a close second, but he loses another critical point in the overall standings to Team Tommy B.
12:40 PM - Tommy B Comes From WAY Back - Tommy B got carried well past the layline on one downwind leg & had to drop their chute to even get to the mark. They rounded in 11th and fought their way back to finish 3rd in race 11. Brian Lambert won that race with Brandon Wallace in 2nd. That puts Tommy B up by 5 points over Wallace in the overall standings. They are getting ready to start the third race of the day. Tommy B has a 4 as a throwout, so if this is the last race of the series, they've got it. If they run more than one, its still up for grabs. The rule is - no starts after 2:30 PM. We'll keep you posted.
