With the plethora of multihull classes, clubs, fleets, associations, et al, perhaps we need a blanket or umbrella organization.

A year or so ago Mary and I threw out an idea that was never picked up.

At one point multihull sailing in the U.S. was under North American Multihull Sailing Assn. (NAMSA) and they held a yearly event, had a great newsletter. Dick Blanchard (now deceased) ran it and held it together.

In order to hold a spot in the world for such an organization, Mary and I went ahead and formed a not for profit corporation.

It is nothing but paper at this time. But it could easily be resurrected as the vehicle we all might be looking for that could be the umbrella organization.

It could work in conjunction with the US Sailling Multihull Council, with NAHCA, with Performance, Intl Wave Class Assn, the Formula 16, 18 20, et al.

However, it is at this point nothing -- it needs a catalyst to set it off. It needs life and breath and blood. I know there are many of you out there that could jointly breath life into this idea.

Mary and I would do anything we could to help, but are simply way overwhelmed at this point to be that catalyst.

Could this be the vehicle for Nigel-thinking folks?

I hope someone would grab this bull by the horns or whatever.

Good luck,

Rick

PS: Click below for an article that Mary wrote back when we formed the corporation a couple of years ago -- and by the way it fits fine even today, with the NAHCA v. rest of the world conversations going on!
