Can anyone answer why the Worrell 1000 site has such sh@tty content? It has no daily race schedule, no locations for each leg, basically no news at all except for the list of teams. I would like to scoot over to Daytona or Jensen Beach to catch a leg if I can but can't even plan it out and it's only 2 weeks away! I think this is such an awesome event but continue to be amazed at the lack of major media coverage, especially with all of the "Reality TV" programming out there. This is real, exciting action that could raise our sport to levels only dreamed about. Imagine having 3-4 factory models competing yearly with limited corporate support. It would sure be nice to be watching Hobie, Inter, & Nacra ads on prime time TV promoting their models and their sailors, not to mention actually watching the live race coverage on TV. With all of the extra TVbandwidth out there, you'd think that they could at least set up a pay-per-view with a small crew for a reasonable cost. As the viewership increases, so could the amount and quality of the coverage.

Just my $.02

Sucks huh? If you can find last year's schedule on one of the teams' websites, the date for each leg this year is one day earlier; the day of the week is the same.

hope this helps

What a coincidence. I just checked in with this forum after cruising through some of this year's race participants' web sites, trying to find any current news about the race.

My first reaction to the coverage so far is that things are not so healthy in Worrell land. But, then again, I have to remember that the web space is a different place these days. A lot of folks have found the real bottom line of web development and many of the hopes and promises have evaporated (along with VC and advertising monies).

For events like the Worrell, the future may lie in the pro bono efforts of sailing enthusiasts who are willing to donate their time to providing coverage for the rest of us sitting in the armchairs during the event. Any links to homegrown sites covering the race will be appreciated.

Hi Folks -

Keep in mind what a large undertaking this event has been for organizers and teams - no matter how much planning and prep time it seems you have, a ton of last minute details pop up to occupy your time. The coverage will be there for you - just be patient - we're still a few days away. I've posted the hotel checkpoints and dates below from an e-mail I got some time ago - hope it helps in making your plans to catch the race at a beach near you. We'll get this info posted on the Tommy Bahama Sailing Team web site today or tomorrow for your convenience - www.TommyBsailing.com.

Enjoy the show!

PI Sailing has a really good site for info. They will have almost real time updates. They have also posted a lot of info about their prep for the race.

I'm confident that the coverage will be there during the race. ( In addition to the TommyBsailing site, Rick has promised some good stuff on this site, and PI Sailing have said that they will have all the latest news, along with others.)

I think what we're all looking for is the "pre-game" show. It's just that no one has figured out how to finance it or otherwise make it happen.

Thanks for the info guys. I did spend a lot of time at the Pi site last year too and I am sure Rick will be having some really good coverage as well. I realize how hard an undertaking like this is and we are lucky the race even exists at all. I just don't want to see something I think has the potential for greatness once again fall between the cracks.

Can't wait for the race!

Hey Lance,

You make several good points. I've had all the same thoughts you have about this.

Which is why I'm very excited to be a part of this year's Worrell 1000 coverage for this web site. Unfortunately, I won't be there for the full race, but will be there May 12-17. It should be a blast!! I can't wait to get down there.

Look for some great action video!

Sea ya,

Tim J.
