Hi fellow cat sailors. I have my H14 beached on Lake MI in NW Indiana. It's nice enough during the summers to simply keep it on the beach. However, now that winter is approaching I need to remove it from the beach, and there are steep dunes which make it nearly impossible to take it up to the street and load it onto the trailer. Some people actually leave their cats in the dunes during the winter which I do NOT want to do. Is there anyone in this area that has suggestions for easy removal from the beach? help is appreciated!

Hobie Fleet 126 used to race out of Michigan City until 1984. At that time we had a ramp between next to the boat ramp on the sidewalk leading to the breakwater and the light house.

I guess its not there now

Put the sails on, put it in the water, sail to the nearest place where you can drive your trailer to the water?

Take everything you can carry including traveller block et.
Tie cheap tarp over it and write your phone number on the cover.
This lets anyone who wants it removed know whose it is and stops the preying eyes. Also, anyone who wants it has the same problem you have about removing it. So only an outright vandal is against you.
Also, If others usually leave them.........are they old timers and are you just a paranoid newbie??

Like Matt said. wheels & a few people. do it soon or it may be buried under drifting sand or the lake effect snow.

With Lake Michigan as warm as it is I'll bet we get buried bad this year with the lake effect snow. <img src=
