Anyone know if the Marlow Rope will still be avialable?

I saw the Chapter 11 announcement and then the West Marine had some of the 5mm Racing on clearance, so I assumed it wasnt going to be available anymore. Then I talked to another store and they have a 2000ft on order.

I spoke to a guy from LayLine about it the other day. He said that Marlow had gone into recievership but that another company (I forget the name) bought the rights to their line. They would be producing some varities, but exactly which ones was still undetermined. He also didn't have any timetable for new production. So, don't depend on replacements of old Marlow stock anytime soon.

I like the 5mm Racing, its got the Dynnema core and its rated at 1% stretch.

Its 1.01/ft at APS. West Marine had purple and yellow on clearance at $.33/ft

Well, I'm not going to miss Marlowbraid (I always thought it had a lousy hand), but they did have some nice small control lines. I hope the new owner will make Excel Pro, Excel Racing, and Prestretch for example.

Regards,
Eric

Yeah, marlowbraid wasn't all that great. It is by far the hardest line to splice in the world. They have a specific way that it has to be done to be warrantied, and it is sooooo complex. Splicing it takes me forever...my hat's off to anyone that can do it well.
