Several years ago I was given a book to read, prior to my crewing a Continentals, regarding wind, weather and sailing. It was written by an Englishmen who was a military trained meteorologist and translated his knowledge, with, as I recall, prompting from his brother the sailor, to sailing. This book was given to the skipper by his Father, so it may be quite old. This sailing aquaintance has long moved away and I've no clue how to contact him (I think he's in China). This book is an excellent description and sailing application of wind and weather that I'd like to share with my sons. I'm sure my translations from memory are losing at lot of the writers' original fervor.

Does this "ring a bell" with anyone?

The only thing that comes to mind is, "Instant Wind Forecasting" by Alan Watts. Hope that helps.
