Mascalzone Latino withdraws from the America's Cup
Mascalzone Latino officially withdrew from the America's Cup today leaving the entries at 13. The bigger problem is that they were the official challenger of record and helped carve the class and rules for this rendition of the cup. The cup can't go on without a challenger of record and the Deed of Gift (DOG) could come into play regarding how the next challenger of record comes to be. It should fall to the next challenger that filed an official challenge. While I'm sure that the team holding the Cup, Oracle, had worked to build plans long ago for this issue, if the next challenger isn't agreeable to the already carved class and rules, it could mean a substantial shake-up in what has been shaped thus far. Hopfully there will be little drama.
accepted first in time after the previous Challenger of Record. At the close of the entry
period, the Regatta Director shall publish a list of Challengers and the dates on which
they were accepted, and thereafter update the list if any late Challengers are accepted.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Thats Artemis right? (I lost track).
Timbo: Yes, €€€€€
An Ernesto-ish move would have been to provide an influx of cash into the ML camp to keep them in it and buy their (continued) cooperation and not have to go to the 2nd team.
Here's the announcement:
I love this quote and I like Vincenzo's style.
In our sport, men in blazer have overcome by now those in oilskins, I'm a man in oilskin and when I go in the sea, I want to win. I’m not interested in a hopeless challenge, I would lie to the sponsors, to our fans and last but not least also to myself.
