Sweden have Vättern, 1912km2 and Vänern, 5655km2..

Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%A4nern, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%A4ttern

A very nice view in those pictures, but it's even better to have another catamaran builder on the forum! The view from lakes in sweden doesnt measure up at all (except during the bikini season).

Your memory is the first thing to go

I always thought that your hair and wife were the first things to go !

With your memory degrading being a blessing in disguise as then you won't remember ever having the first two !

We have many large lakes in Australia as well, but the three biggest are the Pacific, the Indian, and the great southern, (opps sorry, I think you guys call them oceans, we call those "ponds")

Wouter,

You are right, I gave a wrong information. The Leman Lake is not the largest in terms of surface, but the biggest in terms of volume (89km3, which nobody care as we do not sails in cubes... this is true) in the Occidental Europe.

I had in my memory that this lake was the largest... but not all the details... Sorry about it.

Now it's amaizing how people get involved when we talk about "National" greatest. I'm pleased to see that it is creating "homework".

Regards to all of you and hope you have a nice scenery has we have.

Some more information about the Leman Lake. In french.

Quelques chiffres: *
Superficie du plan d’eau: 580.1 km² (Suisse: 345.3 km², France: 234.8 km²)
Volume moyen: 89 km³ (= 89 milliards de m³)
Profondeur maximale: 309.7 m (entre Lausanne et Evian)
Profondeur moyenne: 152.7 m
Altitude moyenne du plan d’eau: 372.05 m
Longueur de son axe (Villeneuve-Genève): 72.3 km
Largeur maximale: 13.8 km (Ouchy-Evian)
Longueur des rives: 200.2 km (Suisse: 142.2 km, France: 58.0 km)
Débit moyen du Rhône à l’exutoire (Genève): 251 m³/s
Temps de séjour théorique des eaux (volume/débit moyen): 11.4 ans

Regards to all of you,
Jr

Wouter,

I'm also pleased to see that you extract also what you want... based on the web link that you gave, this web site also indicate that "Geneva Lake" (I do not like to call it that way as many other town also own the lake)is the largest lake in Central Europe...

And this has noting to do with Swiss Schools... am I wrong?

Dear All,

It seems that many companies are producing 18HT...
does any one of you know other companies than the below listed one?

Ventilo
Bimare
Eagle
Stealth
TomCat (this is a French association that may never produce large quantities, as per the president)
MattiaSport (www.h2o-sensations.com for Switzerland)

Thanks for your feedback,
Jr

And the lake with the biggest volume is Lake Baikal in the eastern part of Russia.

So everybody is happy and nobody has it all !

Dear Sir,

After looking around this website, it appears that all of the cat manufacturers you mention in your post have been discussed, sailed, and raced. Most of the information is loosely based on manufacturer information and each sailor's perception.

I believe this is as good as it gets, since no manufacturer has the time or money to perform exhaustive (and repeatable) engineering experimentation (tank testing, windtunnel testing, etc.) on each of the cats being mentioned.

Many have stated a great sailor will make any boat go fast. Boats based on sound design principles, tested materials, good craftsmanship and EXCELLENT MANUFACTURER SUPPORT are destined for greatness, even if someone else may "have the best boat out there"

Just my opinion... I wish you the best in your endeavour
