Nacra 5.0 owners , Please help !

Could you tell me what the torque values are for the crossarms of a 5.0 ?

You can download a Nacra assembly manual from the Performance Cat web site - www.performancecat.com

The manual says 16-18 ft/lbs. That sounds a little tight to me.

Also make sure you grease the bolts with white grease.

I always use an adjustable wrench on the chips to keep them from turning and thus putting more preasure on one side of the beam strap than the other.

Have fun. If you haven't sailed a 5.0 yet, it's a great boat

I also found that this torque setting was a bit high for my old Nacra 5.2 as the hull started to compress and I could never reach the torque setting - I settled at about 10 - 12ftlbs and haven't had a problem (1 year and a lot of sailing since).

A major Performance cat dealer told me never to go over 13 ft/lbs, that 18 is way too much. He uses Never-Seize and the bolts have to be retorqued several times as the beams settle in.
