I'm working on getting my old Nacra 5.2 set up correctly after many years of not being used. Nobody in the area knows anything about how the 5.2 should be rigged. I've attached a picture of how the owner years ago kept his jib and main halyards. In short, the ends that go on the sails are clipped together, and then the line on the end of the jib halyard is run thru an eyelet on the front of the mast and then tied off on the clipped ends. The line end of the main goes down the port side of the mast into a jam cleat. But the thing that bugs me the most is that to hold it all in place the halyards are wrapped around one of the diamond lines and that seems to me like it would cause more damage to that wire than needs to be done.

Anyone out there that has a good system for storing the halyards on the 5.2 that is better than what I have now I would appreciate the info.

I keep my 5.2 across the street on a beach very close to some houses so i have to store my halyards away from the mast for noise reasons. What seems to work well for me is to attach the jib wire halyard right to the bridle wires and then just tie off the remaining rope there as well. As for the main, i created a loop in the rope halyard about 4 ft up from where the boom connects and i attach the wire halyard to that. Then i just tie off the rope to the bridle. It's quick and easy and has worked well for me.
Hope this helps!!

Thakns for the idea - I'll give that a try the next time I get to the boat. Just don't like the idea of wrapping it around the diamond wires and pulling it tight so they don't flop in the wind and thus adding stress to the diamond stay.

The amount of stress you can add with the halyard is nothing compared to what the diamond wires endure under sail. I too used to wrap mine around the diamond wires to keep them from slapping the mast but Wrinkled pants has some good ideas too.
