I'm in the process of buying a really nice condition '79 Nacra 5.2 to replace my Hobie 18 which I owned in the late '80's. (since been sailing the big mono's). Curious if anyone out there has a way to single hand the stepping of the mast. I noticed the mast base isn't

pinned

. My ol' Hobie 18 was a chore but was able to step the mast using the winch on the trailer before beach launching the boat.

Does anyone make a replacement to pin the Nacra's mast??? This could be not a most desireable undertaking single handed.

There is a kit available thru Murray's Marine, and therefore possibly in the Catsailor store that refits the foot of the mast. The ball size changes at the same time. The kit also changes the compression rod.

Bobcat,

Perfect. Just called Murray's and for $99 just what I needed.

Chime in here if you have any trouble - mine was a little problematic to install (mostly removing the old mast post). It is definitely a worthwhile upgrade!
