[#12791]

i just moved into a new place here in destin and there is an old nacra 5.0 that has apparently been here for a few years now, the hull(port), yes only one, is in great shape, just needs some cleaning, both crossbars and mast are in great shape as well... wire rigging seems to be in good shape still too... neither the landlord nor the occupants knows exactly where it came from, but noone wants to claim it, i currently have a h16 and was pondering the thought of trying to get the 5.0 running, my question is, would this thing be worth the effort, or am i better off saving more $$ and getting an 5.8... id eventually like to sail spin, so id be stepping up to a bigger boat in a few years anyway, but until then, would i be better off with this than the hobie.. anyway... any ideas would be appreciated, or if you want this hull let me know, i just hate to see it go to the junk-yard...

you say it only has one hull?

hate to say it, but you'll end up pulling your hair out trying to get a matching one, if this is the case.

Even if you do find another hull, you will probably spend so much on it that you would be better off buying a used boat in ready to sail condition.

The 5.0 is a great boat but unless you get the other hull for free the project isn't worth it. For a point of reference, I just sold my 5.0 for $1500, complete and ready to sail with a new tramp and rigging and a galvanized trailer in perfect condition. It's a fun boat and much more forgiving to sail than the h16. See if you can find another free orphan boat and put together a "frankenboat."
