It's a long hike and will take some luck with the weather in multiple states on the way down.

The week after Thanksgiving I brought a boat back from Zenda, Wisconsin. If we had waited two days later, we would have been snowed/iced/frozen until next May and we spent the night in Illinois hoping to beat it out before the snow/sleet started flying early the next morning. The record arctic cold weather this past week will make your request a tall order for a while. Taking I-39 down will be better than I-65 until...

You have to dodge idiots in Birmingham, Alabama. There is no other word to describe the NASCAR crowd there and I've driven all over the world and parts of Louisiana. I'm accustomed to internationally certified kamikaze inbred fool idiots behind the wheel but you will want to avoid B'ham and it's collection of concrete debris for roads if you live to survive Nashville's circuitous insane route to find I-65.

Funny you should mention B'ham. The closest I have ever come to a high speed wreck was on I-65. This complete idiot was playing zig-zag in the traffic. I still don't know how we didn't hit. I think he swerved juuuuuuussssstttt enough at the last minute to avoid sideswiping me. BTW... I was in the middle lane moving at the same speed as traffic, not going slow in the fast lane like those who deserve to be put in the ditch. Driving isn't much better down here, especially this time of the year (snowbirds average age around 80ish).
