NAF18 Event Scheduling
NAF18. I remember a bit of crazyness way back when they decided that they were going to modify the international F18 rules for North America and it alienated a couple of manufacturers and seemed to elevate some others (not to mention excluding us from global competition). During that issue, the NAF18 organizers (that's what they claimed) stayed anonymous when they were posting here on the old forum. Now there's now a big debocle over scheduling of the Tiger Nationals, F18 Nationals, and F18 North Americans (see link). I'm shocked that nobody yet seems to know who is "The Board" for NAF18 - isn't that crazy? What is going on over there? Based on the information I obtained from the following link, a couple of questions come to mind: "who's running this thing?" and "are there alterior motives or are they just indolent?"

I am replying to this because I am on the board and I do not want to be associated with the anonymous "NAF18 Board" postings.
I questioned that post.
I still have no idea as to who on the board posted as the "NAF18 Board". If I have something to say I'll post my name with it.
And I most certainly did not give anyone on the board permission to speak for me under posts from "The NAF18 Board".

The events are only two weeks apart. Sailors will still face a choice. While it is not a direct conflict, it still creates a conflict.

Seems I'm guilty for not doing enough research - I based my initial post solely on the information contained in the F18 forum thread and allowed myself to be fooled by a couple of anonymous folks claiming to have more responsibility than they did. To the actual (and as it turns out "readily accessible") organizers of NAF18 - Tom Liston, Tom Korzeniewski, Mark Biggers, and the various regional representatives, I apologize for the 'conspiracy theory' tone of my previous post.

Carl, I didn't follow you regarding this part of your post - so the F18NA's have changed their timing to accomodate the Tiger Nationals? It still seems to be very close (10 days) and across the entire continent.
So maybe both events should move ?

Good idea Wouter!

Personally I am eager to be able to see these boat in real life. With luck I will be able to attend this area as a spectator or as a staff.
I think that having the NAF18 championship at the same time and at the same place as the Transat is going to be great for the sport and we will get alot of media coverage for our sport.
Last summer I was luky enough to catch two 50' boat training for the Saguenay-StPierre-Vendée

I spoke with the crew of the 50' monohull "Top-50" that won the event in the monohull class but the most interesting experience was to see the 50' tri from Hervé Cloris. It is a very fast looking boat.
