Because Juana's has only a concrete boat ramp with long piers, where else do you launch from?? It's not really cat-friendly anymore.

Hey Bob, got the Inter 17R yet? Will you use it for this regatta?

Hey Bob!

I have not been to the new boat ramp since they completed that project. It seemed to have taken forever and they managed to block off access for the whole summer. Seems like that should have been a winter project, but I heard they were stopped in the middle due to some birds nesting and so on.......it went downhill from there.

Anyway, I am told that the parking lot is plenty big to rig boats and then use catrax to move them down the ramp. There is still plenty of beach. Also, there is beach access on the far west end of the parking lot that will let you catrax your boat directly down to the beach. Glen has seen this and I am only going on what he told me.

Just take Friday off and set your boat up and make the party that evening. Beats working. What will you be sailing? See you there.

Just to let you know....

I did a recon of the area 2 weeks ago. There is a big parking lot to rig in. However, no beach access to the west of the ramps like in the past. I guess we have to rig in the lot and cat trak across the ramp area against the traffic flow to the beach in front of the pagoda. Sailing the 17R!!

I won't be in the regatta but I will have my boat there that week and I would like to know if that ramp is launchable for my 17'+ wide boat.

I pulled a tape on the ramp last year while the parking lot was under construction but I decided it was not wide enough for my boat but I can't remember what the measurement was. Does anyone have a measurement between the piers on either side of the ramp?

It looks like you couls add a couple of lines to your boat and move it on the sides of the launch piers. I believe they are 20' wide. The powerboaters in the area are real impatient types so keep this in mind.

I guess anyone arriving early could launch Friday at that perfect place with the large parking lot west of Tristan Tower on Pensacola Beach and sail down from there to Juana's if you have a shore crew or someone to drive your car/truck from P'cola Beach to Navarre Beach. That late afternoon southwesterly could push you all the way to the grass shacks.

They have also built a new park within walking distance right across the street from Juana's. This may also serve as a good place to launch your boat. You will have to sail back through the bridge around to Juana's to get your boat there.

Looking forward to seeing you on your new I17 Bob!
