I'm having a hard time locating an

old school

masthead halyard sheave for a 1981 Hobie 16 without comptip. The sheave is about 5

in diameter and about 3/8

wide. I would rather not have to make one - anyone got a lead?

You'll have an easier time just replacing the entire mast head. They're on eBay all the time. Any dealer who's been around for a while will have a box full of them.

Would it be the same part that they use on the european H16s (no comptip here)? Maybe you can order it over here...

You can use a current

CompTip

mast head / halyard on an all aluminum mast as well.

I have a 16 comptip cutoff you can have. The whole works

An additional note on my suggestion about using the CompTip mast head on an all aluminum mast... Sometimes I forget that these forums are international.

Rules in the NA region specifically prohibit the use of all aluminum masts for class racing, so I disregarded the rules impact of using the CompTip mast head for a repair on the aluminum mast.

It is functional, but it is not class legal to use it in areas that the aluminum mast is

class legal

for racing.
