If I drag the Blade up there for IC^4 are any of you locals gonna show me around? At least point me in the direction of a good pizza place? Do they have pizza in Newport?

Nope pizza in Newport is TERRIBLE!!! Then again your from FL.
Great seafood though... chowda, lobster, clams, oysters, etc.
I'm the only resident cat sailor believe it or not... like I said in the PM with you Pete... we may have the New England 100 surrounding the C class event so maybe there will be plenty of other cat sailors in town.
I think we'll have 2-3 F18s at Sail Newport all summer.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

Via Via has great pizza. The BBQ chicken is my favorite.

Bob... you are showing that you grew up in RI! You live 5 minutes from New Haven! The first thing I ask for when I go home to CT is pizza. Via Via is tolerable but I wouldn't say great unless you've had several drinks before eating.
Each to his own I suppose <img src="<>/smile.gif" alt="smile" title="smile" height="15" width="15" />

to each his own - true!

I guess you have to break it down into various sub-species:

NY style
Neapolitan style
Chicago style

American

style
Midwest style
California style

Mexican

style (don't ask me how I know, but it's actually good -n- spicy like I like it)

And yes, my little town has several restaurants of each genre. We're even getting a pizza chain from Naples, Italy next month. Who'd have thought?

Who eats pizza without alcohol being involved? Especially at a cat regatta?

Was that a trick question Todd?

I thought there were a bunch of A cats up there?

And where is Hall Spars located? Last time I laid over in Newport there was a huge Hall mast in the airport lobby!

Well there are 1 or 2 A catters who live in Newport and a couple other random catamarans...but as far as guys that race and live in Newport itself (plenty of people consider surrounding towns Newport as well) i'm the only one. The A cat fleet is in Bristol about 20-30 minutes north, they typically only make it down to Newport for 1 or 2 regattas a year. Hall is located in Bristol.
I think you mean laid over in Providence? about 45 minutes from Newport.

Ahhh, yup, it was PVD. I forgot, it was many beers ago.

Thanks!

My memory's good but it's shorter than my...

...and now Todd is showing he did not grow up in RI...

Newport doesn't have an airport, nor does Providence.

Newport airport is an airport for small planes, helicopters and the occasional blimp, and is located in Middletown, RI.

TF Green airport (commonly referred to as Providence or PVD when booking flights) is the commercial traffic airport, and is located in Warwick, RI.

Thank god I didn't! RI people are weirdos!

I just said Providence because figured he wouldn't remember Warwick.

You don't know the half of it. No one goes anywhere that's more than 20 minutes away unless they pack a lunch. There's no such thing as a day trip from Providence to Newport and back. God forbid you tell someone you're going there

just

for dinner...

Pepe's - Wooster Street, New Haven, CT - best pizza in the universe.

Newport, stick to seafood and Dark and Stormy's
