[#30940]

This morning,(Dec.14), Big Marine Lake lost all its ice from rain and warm weather. There had been about two inches of ice, which was already unusually thin for the season.

How are other northern lakes doing across the U.S. and Canada ?
(Or Europe for that matter ?)

I see where this will soon be going...but let me say that coming back from the Florida Keys last Sunday and wearing shorts and flip flops all the way home (and not adding more layers when I got there) was pretty amazing!

October was the warmest fourth warmest October in recorded history in the US. I haven't seen anything about November or December but it doesn't seem like they would be far behind.

yeah, november pretty much the same. The pole oriented bend in the jetstream is largely to blame for the mild fall/winter thus far. It can easily come screaming back, though.

Jeff, stfu. I like low heating costs, not battling snow, and not being cold. Don't taunt winter, she's a cruel bitch when she wants to be.

He's Jeff and from Minnesota. He should know better than to bitch about it NOT being -30º.

You're Jake, you know nothing of cold. lol

Nothing political, just don't taunt the evil twat winter. We've gotten it easy this year and I like that. There's still three to four months left of winter where things can go sideways.

In Holland (about 52 degrees Northern Latitude), we experience also the last 4-6 weeks an unusual warm weather.

No snow or frost, but now already 4 weeks non-stop very strong wind (above 30 knots) from the west to southwest. So no catsailing.

Even windsurfing is mostly impossible because of the very rough seastate of the Northsea; especially here on the shallow waters near my homespot.

So... buttocks

65 Deg here in Cincinnati Ohio, but it was 30 in Fairfield California. I am to blame for the screwy weather looks like. I'll go home in January and set all things back to normal.

Not even chunks of ice up here in Maine. I'm told that usually the smaller ones are ice skating rinks by now.

I'm not complaining believe me.

OK, I'll complain!

It's been hot as BALLS down here in FL since last March! We got screwed out of our 'nice spring weather' as it was 10 degrees above normal all March, April and MAY, with way above average rain.

Then we got the usual 97 degrees, 97% humidity all summer, which is what we expect, for 3-4 months, but it never ended!

October, 10 degrees above normal, November was the hottest on record, 6-10 above normal every day, and now on December 15th, it's was 86 and 90% humidity!!

That's about 14 degrees above normal! I have to go to Dubai just to cool off!

I've had ENOUGH of Hot and Humid! I don't need to see snow, but I want some Cold Air and SOON!

Tonight's weather guy said we're getting a quick cold front on Friday-Saturday, down to the 60's, but then right back up into the 80's again come next week!

DAMMIT MAN! It's TOO HOT! Oh, and the Rent is too damn High!

Don't complain Timbo. Seriously. Just had to take the shovel and scrape ice off of my front steps so my wife could go start her car and let it warm up before she headed off to work.

When I was in Orlando, my morning routine involved making a cup of coffee and while it brewed, go out and skim the pool of leaves and lizards.

I really, really miss Florida.

I grew up in New Hampshire, that's why I live in Florida now, so I feel your pain on the snow shoveling, but we are missing out on our beautiful fall (and spring) weather because summer never ended! The Tampa TV weather guy last night said these temps/dewpoints are normal...for August!

Thanksgiving week was pretty nice... Had windows open all week.

a little muggy here now, but nothing a pair of shorts can't fix. Hope to go bobbing around on the boat this weekend.

This clearly shows that warm Great Lakes weather won't last for long.

Hey Man:

I just want to go ice skating on the lake. Today (Dec. 18), with the cooler weather, the lake has been trying to refreeze again, but the wind wouldn't let it. Hopefully, I'll wake up tomorrow morning and see a good start at some smooth and clear ice.

87 on Christmas!

That just ain't right!

Don't remind me, Timbo. My HVAC exploded last weekend. So we may have x-mas without it.

Now I have to decide what to replace the HVAC with.. it's a 5 ton unit (60,000 Btu) 14 SEER split system.

Seems the

mac-daddy

two speed compressor & multispeed AHU blower is the cat's meow... but at $9,000 USD installed... yikes.

I did see the swamp cooler (styrofoam cooler & fan) setup was under $10 USD...

And don't forget, you can cool your beer in that swamp cooler too!

Well worth the $10!

This year is apparently a repeat of last. Its going to be 55'F tomorrow, and next week we're going to get 8-12

of snow.

Which I'm sure will turn into 12-24

Supposed to be in the 60s here next two days. Santa's going to need to wear shorts!

I'm enjoying using less heating oil. It'll get nasty here soon enough. I hope so anyway, as sledding without snow is pretty tough.

Mike
