[#12934]

I'm an avid sailor having owned and raced my hobie16 and prindle16 in Southern California. I've been without a boat for 10 years now living in Northern California and have been looking at getting Inter17R or HobieFXone. Is there a group that sails and races single handers here in the Bay Area? What else is comperable to this class? Thanks for your help.

I'd love to see a single handed class get going. I've got a Taipan 4.9 that is sailed single handed as a uni rig with spinnaker and would be very comparable to the fx-1 in performance. There's another Taipan 4.9 just arrived in the Bay Area also. I've seen a few fx-1's around also. So potentially there is enough boats around to get a fleet of F16 (or similar) boat together this coming year.

Where are you located? Have you decided on a boat yet?

Haven't decided on the boat yet, but am leaning toward the FX.
I'm up in Marin County, just over the GG bridge.

In addition to the couple of Taipan's that Eric mentioned, there is an FX-1 sailor (he might be selling his boat), and a handful of A-Class sailors. These guys race periodically in Hobie regattas in the Open division as well as in MHRA regattas ( http://www.catamaranracing.org ).
