Old Forum -- Working on it!
Not ready to let it die, maybe..it's a little like the old forum on the <a href=
>Ruff Rider website - maybe a little primitive, but really, we like it that way. OTOH, if it weren't dead in the water, I never would have gotten my password for this one....

Hey Rick, Your techie must be doing something right because the old forum is working nearly as fast now as it used to before the Worrell 1000. I had given up on it because of the delays but today I tried it again and got caught up as it was only a little wait to start a new string instead of about a minute wait for each new string. Now that I have gotten used to the new one, I prefer it and I think that is the main reason some people like the old one better - it is what they are familiar with. Just human nature....
BTW, what are you sailing in the Sandusky Steeplechase this year? See ya soon, Mike
Let it croak! Let it die! Put it out of its misery! Send it to the happy hunting ground! Let it
assume room tempurature!
Let it pass away! Let it no longer be with us! Let it expire!
Die die die!

First of all, Tim, you sound like Gary Condit.
Mike,
I am really not sure yet. I am working on a last minute thing that may or may not work. If it doesn't, I probably won't even sail -- don't think I want to sail a Wave for 22 miles unless it is a howling reach (fat chance). I wanted to take my Taipan 4.9 again, but I also don't want to load 3 Waves on top of it, nor do I want to load it on top of 3 Waves. Taking 2 Waves for Dick and Betty Bliss (in-laws.., or outlaws?) and one for me. Hope your Waves will be available -- seems we have a lot of sailors and not that many boats.
In other words! Who knows?!?!?!?!?!?

Rick, please don't let the Old Forum die. It's so much easier to access and check which messages have been added. After another try at reviewing all of the messages tonight on the New Forum, I am convinced that the old forum is better and easier to use. It takes a lot less space on the screen and it's easier to follow various links. I still like the old format better and hope that you will keep the old forum going... on and on and on and on and...
Thanks for listening to another opinion.

The old Forum shall remain.
However, your reason for it seems strange to me. The neat thing about this one is that whenever there is a reply to a posting, it comes to the top, so you always know the most current discussions. Things that have lost interest sift to the bottom.
And to know if anything new is posted, just look at the number of times and posts and you will see that any new threads, posts or replies are in red and in parenthesis.
Also, you have the option of checking for the last (week, day, month, foreever??) for postings. In the Old One we have to delete all messages over a month or so old. If we don't the program really runs slow, as it must load all those postings. So, we delete. With the new program, they are still there but by default are not loaded. If you want to see them, you simply click on All Messages.
This is by far and away a superior program, however, for you diehards, Darline, The Old Guy will still be there.
Thanks for your input,
(By the way, you cannot put smile faces like that in the Old One. heh heh

Rick,
What are your reasons for keeping the old forum alive? There will always be some folks out there that hate changes (even those for the better). Why not announce the oldie will be retired in a few weeks to allow people to make the change to the new one? It's a real pain to try to keep up with two different forums right now.
