Performance lists optimum crew weight for the 5.8 to be 290lbs. That surprises me a little. Being that my total crewing weight on my 5.2 is usually closer to 350lbs I was wondering what the Nacra 6.0's optimum should be. I've always heard that it's a 'big boy boat'. Anybody know what optimum weight on the 6.0 should be (how about the Hobie 20 too)?

Actually, 290 lbs. is the minimum weight on a Nacra 5.8 - not necessarily the optimum weight. 325 lbs. seems to be optimal for the total mix of weather conditions. Of course, lighter is better in light air. Both the 5.8 and 6.0 handle extra weight well due to the buoyant hulls.

The optimum weight varies for different conditions, basically I think you need to start at the minimum weight required, 295 for H20 and 325 for N6.0, and go up from there.

Any weight over 130% of the minimum is definitely fat boy.

Light air 0-10 go minimum, medium to heavy no more than 25pounds extra, seems to work well for me.

When the H20's first came out there was lots of talk about the optimum weight, it ended up around 320lbs I think.
