[#19604]

I have a new tramp this year and it has 2 rows of grommets at the aft edge vs the fibreglass rod that was across the back of the old tramp. Anyone got a pic or description of how this system is laced up? Looks like maybe I just lace between the rear cross bar sliding loops and the back row of grommets, but not sure why there are 2 rows of grommets on the new tramp??? Any help much appreciated... the ice is coming off the lakes finally <img src=

What you have is a Prindle 16 tramp, but it sounds like the previous owner of the boat had used a different tramp. The new tramp should slide in both the front and rear crossbeams. Then you can use the lacing and go through the two rows of grometts to tighten. There should not be any rear cross bar sliding loops. The way you describe what you have sounds like how a nacra tramp would lace not a Prindle
You can download a Prindle manual from performancecats.com

Thanks for the quick response! I have the original manual that came with the boat and will have to check to see what it says the tramp should look like..? Interesting... I noticed that the new one has an embedded rope in the aft edge that will fit the rear crossbar slot when I remove the sliding loops. My boat is an '84 model, is it possible they have changed?
Thanks.

I have been around Prindles since the late 70's and have never seen any slides in the rear crossbar. The previous owner must have used them for some reason. The very early P-16's did come with a 3 piece tramp similar to the Hobie 16 tramps, with lacing at the rear and in the center.

OK, thanks again... must have got a good deal on a

replacement

tramp, seemed to work well for me! Can't wait to try the new one.

I have a cottage on the Bay of Quinte and that's where we sail. Great sailing area BTW. Last summer we took the boat to Main Duck Is. in the middle of Lake Ontario. Fun trip.
