PHRF Handicap #'s for multi hulls
I am trying to find someone who has experience w/ a club converting Portsmouth (time on time handicap) #'s to PHRF (time on distance handicap) or some other "this boat owes that boat this many seconds per mile" system. My club is trying to have a "pursuit" style race (handicaps factored into a staggered start). Thanks for your help.
have you looked at Texel.....the system formulated in the Ned for the round Texel race.. http://www.texelrating.knwv.nl/
The page is essentially a table of conversions.

There are also two formulas at the bottom of the page:
D-PN = PHRF / (6 + 55)
PHRF = (D-PN – 55) x 6
Note: I added the parenthesis in the formulas to make them work correctly. We did this so that Daddio, my RC-27, could race in the Leukemia Cup under PHRF. The +6 rating was a gift. We now race under a -90 rating (56 D-PN) and still correct out on top almost 1/2 the time.
