After about a year of use, the control lines for the rudders on my (wonderful) Prindle 16 are just about cut through in a few places. May I ask three questions? 1. Is this a normal situation? 2. What sort of abrasion resistant lines should I use? and most importantly, 3. Is there a simple way of threading the lines through the internal part of the rudders, something that looks like a difficult task. My manual simply states "thread lines through." Your help would be appreciated!

It sounds to me like something is rubbing a bit too much if you went through the lines that fast...unless you are lucky enough to sail everyday and just plain wore them out! I haven't replaced the lines on my P-18 in a looooong time.

To thread the line, I use a straightened out wire hanger. It goes through the end of the tube easily.

If your old line is not broken ,sew the new line to the old line and pull it through.
