Renting a Inter 18 and/ or Hobbie 18
Greetings all,
I am in the market for a new boat and have narrowed my search to Inter 17 or 18 and a Hobbie 18. I would like to sail each of them prior to purchase.
I am planning a trip over Christmas down south to the gulf. If I knew of a marina that had one of these fine boats for rent, I could narrow my destination to that marina area.
Let me know.

Your best bet would be KeySailing in Pensacola. He should have both available for you to try and/or buy. Nice sailing area too.
I've sailed a TheMightyHobie18 for 11 years - they're built like tanks and will take years of use and abuse. If there is enough for class racing (if thats what you want) then its a fun boat and its speed is relative to the others you are racing against. If there are not enough to make a class in the area you sail in then the I-18 might be the better boat. I haven't sailed one but sailed against them. Dang!!!!! That snuffer makes life nice going off the wind.
Good luck

If you can make it to Vero Beach, about 60 miles South of the Kennedy Space Center, you can try two of the three there. One of our members has an Inter 18 and two memebers including myself have an Inter 17R. Once you go spinnaker, it is really hard to go back. The boats are fun for not only racing, but recreational sailing too.
