Rick,

I am running into a problem, and I imagine others are too,

with your secure server that hosts your email system. you must

have some settings set that are not common and is preventing my

provider from connecting to the email utilities. Also, since the

public forum (old forum) pulls up the free e-mail info, it also

locks up and prevents me from getting to the old forum. I have run

into this in the past with other providers that were not set up

to access secured servers correctly, but my current provider (ev1.net) gets

through to all other secured servers except yours. I was able to

verify this by using a free provider (NetZero) to get through to the

email to change my passwords and also was able to get through to

the old forum. Question is, are the settings on your secured server

excessively tight, using settings that most providers do not

account for. If so, can they be scaled back somewhat, or can you

at least tell me what is set that is not normally used in order

to forward this information to my provider so that they can make

the necessary adjustments to get through.

Thanks

Manfred Trent

Rick,

I did some more looking at this, and although this looked

very much like a secure server problem I have seen in the past, I have now located the heart of the problem. In netscape 4.77 that I am running, under

Edit, Preferences,

Advanced

there is a setting for

Enable JavaScript

. This is the item that is causing problems. When I turn it off, I

can get through to the email functions and the old forum. The new forum has a very different look as a result, but I can get through now. Now let me think, I thought, there were

proprietary issues with JavaScript that Microsoft was not allowed to copy and may have implemented their own standard that might not be compatible with the rest of the world. Your techs might have to look at their JavaScript code for

your web site and see if they comply with standards.

Anyone out there having these problems, turn off you JavaScript enable (Not the Java enable) in Netscape

and that should clear up your problems. I will post this

on the forum too.
