For those of us armchair catsailors, can someone please post some information on how the RuffRider went?

I can find no info at ruffrider.net, or on the odl or new forums here.

Jim-

Contact Betty on the RR site. She sent me the results via email. I'd post them now if I had them on this computer.

Results are posted...Tomko won Spin on the Tiger, and Don Zeek won non-spin on a Prindle 16. There was no sailing on Sunday due to lack of wind. I was NOT in attendance.
see you at the Dike this weekend?

Phil Buck told me the surf was to high to get the boats out. I can't imagine going 35 miles to get your trailer, 35 miles back to Mansfield Cut and 35 miles back to SPI. Then 8 hours home to Austin or Houston.

We watched Ruff Rider sailors going up the ditch about 5 miles from the cut. Chris Miller's Hobie 21 was 200 yards ahead. Mark Hawkins was running third. Tomko was 4th or 5th and must have made up the time tacking out the Cut. That was a sight!

They were all tacking out the cut, so we sailed into the landcut and onto Marker 21. Ate dinner and continued on to JFK bridge after we heard TS Grace was hitting between Corpus and Port O'Connor. Darn hard to stay in the ditch at night. Got to JFK at 6:00am and anchored in 2 feet of water until the sun rose. Put the tri on the trailer and headed for Austin.

We were at the mouth of Port Mansfield cut when all the boats came through. The lead boats came out clean the trailing boats were tacking all the way. Coast Guard was keeping a watchful eye. We provisioned Scott and Thor while they waited for a trailer to haul their back.

We overnighted close to the jetties and sailed out at day break into the 7 foot breakers. Once we cleared the jetties we set course for Port Aransas. We had beautiful conditions all the way. Grace was a no show. 15 to 20 foot rollers offshore. They were graceful and smooth.

Mark,
Did you anchor inside the jetties on the south side? There was a nice cove there. We were there Wed. night but the mosquitoes got so bad we left.
