I'm going to have my used Hobie 21 Sport Cruiser on a Lake in Minnesota for 1 week. I'd like to leave it on the water on anchor for the week, but I'm wondering if that too much time in the water? How long is OK if the water before damaging the hulls.

Also, do you think it is OK to attach the anchor to the middle of the front crossbar or should I rig two lines off off the forestay connectors at the front of the hulls?

Thanks, Doug

Should be no problem. Just as long as you anchor it well. The worst thing that could happen to the hulls is that you might have a little bit of algea growing, but it usually takes a couple of weeks before the green stuff starts to take hold. No way to pull it on land and let it sit in the grass or sand??

A week "should be" fine.

I have had my brothers Hobie 16 on a moring for a few days here and there. Tied off at the mast base and with a relatively taught line between the shrouds to take up slack so the waves dont bang the rig around. Tied rudders off, too. My Nacra sits in the drink for a week during the family vacation and it stays dry. If the boat is solid, short term shouldnt be a problem.

Doug, You'll have no problem anchoring for a week. Just make sure the hulls don't leak. Anchor using enough scope. I use a bridle attached to the bridle tangs. I think the 21SC bridle tangs have a extra set of holes that you could put shackles in and then use those to tie the anchor bridle to. If not replace the clevis pins at the bridle tangs with shackles that have the same pin dia. as the clevis pins. Look at the triangle the wire bridles make. Make the anchoring bridle a little a little larger.

You can do a search. This topic was talked about a while back.

Have Fun
Mike
