Many people have had a variety of suggestions for reviving cat sailing. Mine is not new but maybe it is time to renew the idea. CAT FEST. Like the Harley owners get together to just ride together, like a parade, followed by a group party, we could do the same thing with cats.

Think of going to a campground on a coast with 10-30+ cats. Have a long day sail along a coast. Not a race, just a cruise for anyone and particularly families (introduce kids to sailing). Everyone could create their own mast head party flag!!! Carry a crew of as many as you want.

An example would be on North Carolina's Outer Banks. There is a great campground called Frisco Woods. Another location might allow cruising along the VA. Beach tourist coast. Talk about getting attention !!!! The Worrell 1000 was great exposure but it went by the folks on the beach too fast.

I know variations of this have been tried, but it seems for a long time all I see is notices of races, and racing doesn't seem to be bringing in enough new blood.

Your thoughts?

The real lesson to be learned from Harley fans is brand loyalty, Get your favourate CAT brand tattooed somewhere prominent

Alot can be learnt from the texel organisers who know how to throw a good beach party.

I couldn't possibly agree more!

Why don't we start our own sub-group within the CatSailor community?

I'm going to log-off, and indicate on my profile that I'm a "fun cat" sailor. I'll give as much contact information as possible and hope others will take note.

Your profile says you like designing strange catamarans. Can you make my Tiki 21 fast enough to race?

I'd like to suggest a more docile area than the outer banks for a "parade" unless you want it to be a "parade of horrors."

Kill Devil Hills and the like are very rough, especially in the spring and fall.

Just to put it in perspective, I don't even go out there during the bad weeks 😛

All over North Carolina.

Tybee Island from time to time. Chesapeake Bay.

Whenever I know I'll be around water and wind I bring my boat.
