[#16667]

It has already snowed up here. I was just sharpening my snowboard edges.

I want to thank the members of catsailor for all their help. I had some pretty basic questions about things such as how to hold all the different lines. The replies from all of you helped me progress much father than I would have without your help.

All told I sailed 143 hours and read 4 books in my first true year of sailing. I trained 5 crew members, so I always have crew if I want it. A couple of them are getting their own boats. I also started a weekday sailing program at my club that was pretty popular. I have even bigger plans for next year.

I have a long way to go and a lot to learn. Thanks again,

Matt

Excellent first year Matt! 143 hours is a pretty good total. I racked up about 110 hours of competitive sailing this year and over 9200 miles driving to 15 different events.

Keep getting more folk involved in cat sailing - the more junkies the better.

Chris.

It is hard up here in Rochester. I see most of the monohull clubs that have racing programs are thriving. Unfortunately only 1 of the 3 multihull clubs has racing, but they race a unique one design that is made of wood and does not have trapeze or spinnakers. It seems like people master the day sail and then have no were to go to improve, but to monohulls. Hopefully I can change things.

Flumpmaster, you drove more miles this year for sailing this year than I put on my car from age 16-21. I wish I could travel to regattas, but all (except one) are hobie only class events.

My crew and I are developing our skills with the hope of eventually moving to a more active catamaran racing area. If we don’t and my efforts are unsuccessful we will be forced to go to slugs.

Matt
