Hi!

Since the Tornado class is moving to the carbon spars, there are plenty of nearly new sails available for low prices. I am wondering if someone ever tried to raise a current squarehead Tornado sail (cut for aluminium mast) on a Nacra 6.0 mast? Surely the Nacra mast is very different in bending characteristic than the Tornado section, but just wondering if for fun sailing it still would work somehow as the mast lenght seems quite simular. Surely a boom has to be added to the boat.

Any comments/experiences are heartly welcomed!

Thanks

I'm not sure how it would work on the Nacra because of the luff lenght and the need for a boom. Seems like too much modifying to save a few buc's. However it should fit on my Mystere just about right. I plan on trying one very soon.

Tornado mains fit the Nacra 6.0 mast just fine. A friend of mine did this regularly. One (minor) issue is that the Nacra 6.0 mast is not tapered above the hounds, and will not flatten the sail quite as nicely as a tapered Tornado mast.

....and the one other thing, if you race you'll get a rating hit for the sail.
