Rick
Barb Short still has some charter boats available for the 9th Annual Hobie Wave Nationals, Dec. 1-3. The boats were brand new this summer and charter fee is only $250, which is the best charter deal ever for this three-day event. (And if you charter a boat, you will be helping to support the junior sailing program Barb and Chip are running down here in Islamorada at Founders Park. <img src=

This is a great regatta for getting in a lot of racing practice on beautiful, warm water, with predictably good winds, after the racing season has shut down up north.
This year, for the first time, the event is being held at the Upper Keys Sailing Club, bayside in Key Largo, on Buttonwood Sound, which is a beautiful body of sailing water, at least as good as Blackwater Sound. (This is located just south of mile marker 100 -- you turn right at the Burger King in
downtown
Key Largo and go to the end of the street.)
Our whole local Wave fleet belongs to the club now and we keep our boats there. It is the perfect facility for this event. Here is their web site address, if you want to check it out: http:/
our club,
note that it has not yet been updated to include the fact that eight Waves now reside there, along with some other catamarans.) Bathrooms, showers, full bar, kitchen, and GREAT spot to watch the sunsets. It is idyllic.
Right now we are close to 30 boats for this event. Please join us. I guarantee you will have fun -- and maybe do more racing in three days than you did all summer.
A list of local motels is at the NOR. Pick one of the ones between mile marker 97 and 99ish, bayside. This is low season right now, so you should be able to get good rates.
Still two or three charter boats left for Wave Nationals, Nov. 30-Dec. 3. See information in preceding posts.
Come on down for some warmth and wind and great one-design racing on Buttonwood Sound in Key Largo. We don't want any boats left sitting on the beach!
Same boats are available for Rick White's Sailing Seminar the first half of Wave Week, Nov. 26-29. This is an economical way to experience one of these intensive race-training seminars, for three days instead of five. If you have questions about either part of Wave Week, call Mary at 305-451-3287 or e-mail mary@catsailor.com.
