looks to be about as comfortable as a testicle vice.

Mine is called 'A Tony' after the maker and it is identical to the ones on those guys. I could be Tony was very big in the past and sold all over world or that one guy made this designs and it was copied all over the world.

Funny thing is is you meet up with a serious crew that was around during the 80's then they all know or have this trapeze harness.

It is actually a great harness except for distance racing. It is the best in a bouy race. You don't feel, it doesn't restrict movement in any way, weights nothing and on light days without trapezing it doesn't start to bother you after a while.

I always wear it even on 5 knot days. handy when righting the boat and when the wind may pick up due to a thermal. The things sit so comfortably when not on the wires that there is no drawback wearing them even on light days.

It's just a diaper harness right? no upper support?

that's exactly what i'm after. i used to wear a magic marine "equipe" harness (w/ upper support), but though it's one of the lightest models in the market, i found it uncomfortable. now i'm using a north sails "highback" - quite cool, except for the hook: it's designed for windsurfing and fits too tightly in the ring (which i cannot replace due to class rules)

I think those are Bigfoot harnesses made by a small company in Australia. It’s a custom tailored full harness.

They came with me Old Prindle 16 when I bought it many years ago.

However If you bring the hook plate yourself (RWO fitting) than Mol Sailmakers in Holland will make one for you. However they do really need to size up you rear parts if the thing is to sit comfortably

It is not a diaper design.

It has two shoulder band and a back piece.

If you look hard at the picture you can see that.

it still looks like it pinches off the boys though.

I can't wait to move to a strap design harness

They have a section that supports up the back with two shoulder straps that converge at the front with a single, "quick" adjustment for the shoulder straps, the lacing on either side at the front gives almost unlimited adjustment for the hips and crotch, and when "fitted" correctly they give excellent support and comfort. They are a "North Sails" patented/copy written harness, and last for many many years of hard sailing. An excellent all round harness!

Don't you know that it has a string "traversing your backside between two cliffs" ! (joke)

Darryll is right. The lacing in front goes a very long way in making it sit comfortably.

Only at distance race does it crush your balls.
