`I recently bought a Hobie 16 project boat for my 14 year old son. We live in northern NY and are about to take our annual winter vacation week with Grandma in Tampa. We'll be flying down this coming Sunday the 15th. Can anyone help us out with finding a person/place to rent a Hobie 16 for a day or 2, preferrably in the Tampa/Clearwater/Bradenton area?
I should also mention that we sail a Pearson 26 normally. My son is getting the itch to go faster than the old man.....I can't blame him.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Not a Hobie 16 specifically, but Bradenton Beach Boat Rentals on Anna Maria Island (Bradenton's barrier island) rents G-Cat 5.0s and 5.7s, PWCs, and kayaks.

The owner's name is Ralf Cole, and the number I find listed is 941-778-4969.

Also, Glen rents boats off Dunedin Causeway (which is a very popular catamaran launching point), though I don't have the number. He used to have a couple G-Cat 5.7s... but they were for sale last time I was there and he was renting plastic Windrider Trimarans

Glen at Sail Honeymoon on the Dunedin Causeway is only renting 16 foot or 17(with jib) foot Windrider Trimarans and Ocean Kayaks as far as I know. Ph # 727-734-0392. Not a cat but stable and fun.
