[#2500]

I'm going to be in Naples FL for a week starting this Friday. Is there anyone down there who wants a crew? I'll have transportation, so I can show up somewhere and just hop on.

Or... Does anyone know a place to rent either cats or dinghys in the area? Renting is always a last resort; they never let you out if the conditions are fun.

Cheers!
Dan

Well, I'll reply to myself, for those who come after me.

In Naples, FL, there are a very few rental options:

-The Ritz Carlton resort contracts with a company called IYS Watersports to rent Hobie Waves near their beach. Ph 239-580-7272 (They didn't answer on Sunday, so I'll call today.)
-Clam Pass Park has two waves, one not rigged, and one with a "Temporarily out of order" sign taped on it and yellow caution tape around it. It may be fixed later, but there was no one to ask.

If you can bring yourself to get in a monohul:
-Naples Yatch Club has club races every Monday, but were very reluctant to say that anyone might need crew. (Someone *always* needs crew.)
-Edison Sailing Center (youth sailing volunteer organization) has informal races every Wednesday, and actively encourages anyone and everyone, but especially kids to show up to get on a boat and race "real boats." BUT that's only a sure bet between Memorial Day and Labor Day. They occasionally hold the races other Wednesdays while Daylight Savings is in effect. $20 donation towards youth sailing is encouraged.

But the thunderstorms are going to keep me on land I think.
