Sandra Tartaglino killed in powerboat crash during New England 100
Sad news about Sandra Tartaglino
USf18 Treasurer and long time cat sailor
Worrell 1000 racer
h16, h17 f18 nacra 6.0 racer
just won Buzzards Bay Regatta last week
A 60-year- old female crew member of the sailboat, which was reportedly participating in the New England 100 Regatta, a two person catamaran race, was ejected from the boat when the sailboat she was in collided with the powerboat. The woman was recovered and later pronounced dead.

Oh! I was just looking for info on this. The news popped up on my Google Alert for the word catamaran.
This is terrible and something I've worried about many times, especially passing under bridges. I'm always appalled to see power boats flying under the bridges at full speed.
I don't know that area, which bridge is this? How tall and wide?
There was just a great writeup about the first day of the regatta on Catsailor.com here https://www.catsailor.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/289168/new-england-100-2019-30th-anniversary

More details in this story. Says it was the Jamestown side of the Pell bridge.

It was mentioned that Sandra was a Worrell 1000 competitor. While searching for more news I found this article from 2001 where she (and another sailor too!) broke her leg during a beach landing.
