Saturday, I purchased my first Hobie Cat16. I grew up sailing a dink on a lake behind my house... and would from time to time, hitch a ride on my neighbor's Hobie... and as an adult, I would charter one for an hour or two every summer at the beach. But most of my sailing experience has been in pocket cruisers in the 22' to 26' range. I have 38 years of sailing experience but this is my first Catamaran and I'm really stoked.
I live in central VA and mostly sail at a reservoir called Smith Mountain Lake and I do one or two cruises in either the Chesapeake Bay or the OBX each summer. My most recent cruise was to Tangier Island.
I'm sure I'll have a lot of tuning and rigging questions... and I'll probably find missing/broken parts to replace. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. 😎

I'm guessing I have a personal info file on this forum from when I first registered 4 years ago. If so, how do I get to it? I want to see if I need to update it. About four years ago, I was shopping hard for a catamaran but went another direction. I first registered then. But today was my first post.

I see you are from Memphis. The previous owner of my boat purchased it from a guy in Memphis. And the boat has a sticker from the original dealership from Houston. So this boat has been around.

I just bought one yesterday! It is my first boat as well, an '81 with freshly painted hulls. I live in California, so we probably won't be sharing tools. The guys on this site have given me advice on my plans to add a front trampoline to it. Still working on a solution for that one 🙂 I'll keep an eye out for the questions you post, I am likely to have the same.
