If that boat is complete it really does seem like a deal, nice trailer.

That boat would definitely sell in the classifieds here. Hardly ever see a nice SC20 Tall Rig come up.

I want it! And I already have one just like it, as well as an extended 20 and a 22! Damn, this is a bad addiction!

It's not the 38' rig, but the 33' rig, and yes, I was tempted. Be a great Lake Michigan boat. Pete

Yeah, I noticed it didn't have the triple spreaders, thought maybe it was a newer 22 style mast. Is that how you spotted it Pete?

The newer tall rig masts are boomless, from what I've seen/know. That mast has a gooseneck for a boom.

If someone does get it be sure to check the bow tangs. The older one had plywood bulkheads and rot over 30 years, needing to be replaced. I know because I've done it to 2 SC20's!

Can the bow tangs be easily inspected for rot on these boats? What is involved with repairing them? I will be up that way next weekend and might have a look.

http://www.thebeachcats.com/pictures/?g2_itemId=88707 . Here's a write up of replacing the bulkheads. You can get new bulkheads and the replacement caps from Aquarius plus all the advice you'll ever need.

If you can wiggle the tang it probably needs to be replaced

Just found a video I made of what the loose tangs looked like on the SC20 I just finished redoing

I guess I need to show it off now 🙂 converted to solid beams, self tacking jib, custom 12ft long SNU, and a brand new set of Technora sails from Smyth Sails

Thanks for the info Mac. Pete was 100% correct. I contacted the seller and it is in fact a 33 foot mast. Was hoping it would be a tall rig.

I will partner with someone on this boat. We can store it mast up, all summer (thru Oct.) on Wilmette Beach north of Chicago. I pay resident rates (which means so do you). Anyone interested?

Talked to the owner this afternoon. Boat has been sold to someone from Texas. Apparently he got calls from all across the country. Most likely due to this site. He told me he originally found the boat on Thebeachcats classifieds.

I called the owner too, nice guy. That was a great deal on what sounds like a solid boat. Thanks for posting the listing Peter. Pete K, I have a tall rig mast, rigging and sails if you're shopping, check the parts classifieds.

Dave
