Most F18s are using the Magic Marine Footstrap Light
It's simple and very adjustable. I've used ones with neoprene and they just deteriorate. These last very well.

I just bought a pair from Maui Fin Company. hmmm must be something about footstraps in Maui?
Mine were $15 each. I just happened to be working in Maui one day and gave the guy a call and he met me at Hookipa (famous windsurfing and surfing beach). Then he offered me a board so I could go surfing with him. Very cool!

Aloha Kaneohe and Welcome to TheBeachcats.com. Do you live in the islands or just pass through for work? Please tell us about your sailing area.
I bought a set of these. How should I mount them on my Hobie 16? I have some shroud anchors and was thinking about using those to secure the footstraps on the lip of the hulls. My only concern is drilling the holes at the correct angle to hit the shroud anchor underneath.
I went ahead and did one side tonight. Both ends of the strap go into the threaded shroud anchor. Unfortunately I couldn't go any further aft because the lip gets thin and the anchor wouldn't have fit snug underneath.
