sailing in high winds, ended up fliping and somehow shearing off front two feet of the left hull (see profile picture). don't even think this can be fixed, but does anyone have any advice on finding a replacement pontoon, or should i just scuttle and sell the parts?

Hull is toast.

eBay for replacement (or go to the

Want to Buy

section of the Hobie Community Forums)

Also a good place to part it out.

How about a detailed play-by-play description of the disaster? --Real life is much more interesting than a make up pirate movie.

well, here's my version of the story if you're interested:
we were down in pensacola, sailing was amazing -- i was in the harness over the side, a friend was steering, and another friend was helping out. we were flying upwind, tacking for a while and everything was going great until we pushed it a little too hard...we tried to adjust quickly, but it was too late. the downwind hull was submerged, and i knew we were going over, but i guess the force of the water was enough to shear off the front three feet of the downwind hull (i'm sure the fact that the hull was very old had something to do with it as well). so we ended up fliped, mast flat, with one hull filled with water. fortunately no one was hurt, but i did end up caught underwater between the trap and mast for what seemed like an eternity until i wiggled myself free. nothing much we could do after that but wave down another boat to help out. eventually we were able to tow it back in, but now i've got a boat i can't sail...very disappointing end to an otherwise great sailing day.
