Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with running a sailing club in connection with a college. Our club is at the state of looking for a permanent club site and the college would like absorb us into the college. The only problem is we feel we would like to retain our club name and independence but still we are trying to figure the pros and cons of such a venture. To be honest the club has not be very consistent with supporting sailing but then again that could change with our interact if we are not absorbed so much that club does not exist anymore. Our club is mainly H16's and Access Dinghies just for your information. See our website at www.sail-s.com - follow the links to the club section.

I am commodore of the sailing club at NC State University.

We have typically shyed away from incorporating into the University as a varsity sport, although we are technically under the reins of the Campus Recreation Department.

The reason we haven't gone into full-time varsity-sport classification is because we feel that the club needs to accomodate both recreational sailor and racer, which we do fine at the moment.

If you have questions for me, my email is tad@nc.rr.com
