A friend just bought an older Hobie 16 w/comp tip mast and no main halyard. I have a couple of wire halyards for a non comp tip, and was wondering if I can use one on his comp tip mast. Is the distance to the locking piece from the shackle the same? Will the comp tip rollers handle a wire rope halyard as opposed to the intended 1/4 inch rope?

Thanks!

Nope - there's about a 2" difference.

Probably, since it's the same wire at the end of the Comptip halyard.

Thanks - from the shackle is it 2" longer or shorter? I will re swage the shackle if it's shorter.
