While I ws visiting the in-laws in Bristol last summer, we headed down to Newport for the day and found the Newport Sail center.
That has got to be the largest fleet of catamarans I have ever seen at one time! I bet you guys are the bigest Hobie 14 fleet in the world, huh?
Sailing in Newport harbor in February must be some sort of fun, but it seems to me a bit like lobster or artichokes- who was the person that thought "Gee, this seems like a good idea"?

Unfortunately, the Newport Regatta was postponed for a week. somthing about they could not clear enough snow to launch the boats. Oh well.

The 14 fleet in Newport was Sandy T's brainchild. It was started as a way to race in the winter, it grew into a unifying force for New England multihulls. frost biters are found on Hobie 16,17, nacra 6.0s Inter 20's etc in the summer, but we all race the same boat in the winter.

Believe it or not, Newport harbor can be quite crowded in the winter. Hobie 14s, Yinglings,Lasers, Salve Regina college racing, and a couple of local high schools all out racing and practicing on the weekend.

Grab Tom Korz and bring him with you. I will get a boat for him. If not, the boat offer will stand for any other 204 member. It would be easier for you to drive down with someone.

Barry,

I will see what I can do. Is there a way to know that the regatta is on? Maybe a phone number.

cheers
Bill

It's on as of today. Weather looks good. I still have a boat that someone can use.
