I am new at this sport, and recently acquired a H-16. The sails are from 1979, and I think they are pretty shot. Do sails go bad, and if so where can I get a good deal on a set of sails for my H-16?

yes...they do wear out. The should still be crispy and somewhat stiff. 1979 might be time invest in a new set. There are several listed almost always on E-bay. just a thought

If you do not want Class legal H16 sails you can get a set for much less or get them built by someone else than H16 sails. Give me a call as sometimes I get used sails in, go to www.sail-s.com for more info.

If your tired sails are still generally usable, you may be able to donate them. I recall seeing posts in the past, where folks are trying to aquire old boats and sails for use with lessons for youth programs. Anyone out there have more information ???
