Need some advice about my original H16, now gathering dust in a storage yard. Its a 78 Tequila Sunrise with good tramp, rigging, but sails are shot. I purchased new used sails for it this spring. Hulls dont have soft spots, but are sunfaded on top (previously painted 10 years ago). Is it worth the time to try and give the hulls tops some glass work to refurbish? If all this is done, what is the value of a boat like this, with trailer?

Absolutely!

I am in the process of refurbishing a 1973 h16 and you would be surprised at how little work makes the big difference. For starters if you don't have any soft spots,... go buy a lottery ticket because you are the luckiest person I know. Faded hulls, etc. is just a cosmetic thing. The best thing to do is sand the hulls down (not to bare glass, just so it will hold a coat of paint), and then use DuPont Emerone Marine paint or something similar. Re-epoxying the hulls adds way too much weight and costs $$$. As far as the hardware goes, make sure everything is tight and you are ready to sail a great boat.
