Mast Rake Vs. Power
I am sure the answer has already been posted, just being lazy.
I am under the impression that more Rake = less power on a H16.
last weekend, I was on a fleet members boat that had a fairly raked mast and his boat seemed to have less power than mine has a practicaly vertical mast.
How does mast rake effect boat power?
Thanks
Sam

You can also set your rig a little loose so when you go downwind the mast tips foward
That is pretty standard on the Hobie 14, but not a 16. Loose rigs on the 16 generally mean slack forestays (jib luff) upwind. That is bad for pointing ability. Although... in extreme high winds (New Caledonia H16 Worlds) some light crews were rigging very loose to depower with excessive mast rake. Didn't slow them down, but sheeting the jib was secondary at that point.
