i'm going to bare what you dare regatta at keowee s.c. in two weeks, a points regatta for district 9. i do not have a comp tip. i am not a member of hobie racing association. most of my racing has been at my club, beaufort ysc, and we are pretty informal, 14s, 16, 18, trac etc all race in the same fleet. i have raced for several years and won my share of trophies locally-so heres the question- should i sign up for 16 a, b, or c fleet, be a spectator, or what? and why? thanks!
My understanding is that you can race one NAHCA sponsored/sanctioned race without a comptip, but then after that you gotta have it. Check with the race organizers ahead of time to clarify your status. Maybe you could borrow a mast with a comptip on it for the weekend...
